sitout

A protest action in which protesters refuse to go to work or school, or in which they show up but do not work.

(chiefly India, Nigeria) An outdoor area that is set up for sitting, including a floor and seats, and possibly, but not necessarily having a roof, screens, or elevated platform.

(wrestling) A wrestling move that is often used to escape from a hold in which one straightens one's legs to get into a sitting position where one can use them for leverage.
